iOS 7 is a pretty slick operating system but it does seem a bit laggy on the older iDevices such as iPhone 4, 4s and iPad 3, especially when it comes to keyboard typing. A lot of people have been reporting about the considerable delay between the typing a key and character appearing on the screen.
While it is hard to pinpoint exact reason for the keyboard lag but one possible reason could be that these old iDevices, iPhone 4s, 4 and iPad 3, have been upgraded to the new OS and it could be possible that the previously enable settings are causing this delay.
To get rid of those out dated settings you can do “Reset All Settings.” This method has worked pretty well for us and it should be noted that performing Reset All Settings is not Factory Reset, these two are completely different things. To perform Reset All Settings:
- Go to Settings > General
- There you will find “Reset”, tap on it and then tap on the “Reset All Settings”. Confirm your action and your settings will now be set to default; you will have to enter passcode if you have any.
Your iDevice will reboot and all of your settings and customization will be set to default. And you will have to make basic adjustments again such as setting wallpapers, making font bold, rejoining the Wi-Fi connections and other basic adjustments. But on the contrary, your keyboard lag problem will be resolved for good.
Now as stated earlier Reset All Settings is different from Factory reset and none of your data will be harmed or deleted. Factory resets wipes out everything whereas resetting settings will only affect your devices’ settings and not the data.
Hopefully this will help you out and we hope to see Apple fixing this issue in the coming updates.
